One store that I love browsing for food products is World Market. Although they are pricey, they have a large selection of interesting foods, and many of them are a lot healthier than your run of the mill grocery store items as well!
I had noticed this Dave’s Gourmet Butternut Squash for a while, and after seeing rave reviews for it online I decided to give it a try the next time I had a coupon. Here is what the website has to say about it:
WINNER BEST PASTA SAUCE- NEW YORK FANCY FOOD SHOW 2009 The first of its kind, our all-natural butternut-squash pasta sauce is made with squash ripened in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Paired with fresh garlic, onions and roasted red pepper, the natural sweetness and delicate flavor of the butternut squash is enhanced to provide a delicious change of pace. Tortellini, Ravioli, & Lasagna never knew they could taste so great!
I decided to roast some onions and cauliflower to go along with it. I love roasting vegetables – it’s relatively little work and gets a great outcome! I took one onion and one head of cauliflower and threw them in a casserole with some of my Garlic Gold olive oil. If I hadn’t used that, I imagine I would have thrown in some actual garlic cloves! I also sprinkled on some italian seasoning.
After preheating the oven to 400 F, I simply put the casserole in for about 45 minutes, checking it every 15 minutes. Here is how it looked after it was done!
From here, I think you could do a lot – I think this would make a great pizza topping, especially if you threw in some mushrooms! However, I decided to cook some cheese ravioli and top them with the roasted veggies and sauce!
It was so delicious! I’ll definitely be using this sauce again, it was even better than I though it would be. Even better, the ingredients list consisted only of things that I could pronounce and knew exactly what they were.
