Cambodian Threads–A review

During the Holidays (and always), I love finding gifts that have more impact than just the gift themselves.  I also love scarves, so Cambodian Threads Fair Trade business was a great match! Their fair trade silk scarves are beautiful.  What is Fair Trade?

Fair trade is a system of exchange that seeks to create greater equity and partnership in international trade.  It creates opportunities for economically ands socially marginalized producers, supports safe and empowering working conditions, ensures the rights of children and respects cultural identity.

Cambodian Threads donates basic school supplies to ten students at the Preah Takov Primary School in Prek Bongkong Village for each scarf sold.  This village is a small island village, and the Heng family hand-weaves silk products here.  It takes 6-8 days to make just one scarf.  They are all naturally dyed and hand spun.

I received the Lush Red and Black Scarf, and it is beautiful.  I’ll definitely use it to brighten up my little black dress when going out!  The scarf is light enough to wear even in the summer, and large enough to leave plenty of styling options.  I love the colors of it as well, definitely an elegant scarf!  Of course, it will also dress up a shirt and jeans too!

This would be a great gift for your fashion-forward friends this Christmas!  Whether they need to add a splash of color or dress up a casual outfit, this fair trade silk scarf will do the trick.

BUY IT:  You can currently use code “Holidays” at checkout to get 20%off at Cambodian Threads through Jan 1, 2012.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
