I never really cooked much until I moved into the house we currently live in. Once there, I got pretty good at cooking, but I never could master baking. Later, I discovered that there was a reason for this – I didn’t have a good oven or a good scale, both important items for bakers! Well, we finally replaced our oven and there is definitely a world of difference. However, the scale we had was worthless. When I had the opportunity to try out the EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale I couldn’t pass it up!
I didn’t realize until I got it how incredibly handy it would be. I got mine in red, to match several of the other items in my kitchen. When I first got it, I was impressed by how small it was. It could easily fit in a kitchen drawer if you needed it to, but it also looks great on the counter, and doesn’t take up much room.
I love how simple it is to use – there are only two buttons, which is all you need: On/Off/Tare, and Unit. It has four measurement modes: Grams / Ounces / Kilograms / Pounds. Simply put your bowl on there (if you’re using one), turn it on, and pick your measurement unit. Easy as pie! I’ve actually been using it to weigh my cereal in the morning, which is so convenient! It also turns off automatically after three minutes, so you don’t have to worry about accidently leaving it on.
I also use it to weigh out serving portions for Little Miss when I’m packing her lunch for school. No more guessing how many orange slices to send with her! I haven’t used it for baking yet, but I’ll be much more confident now that I have it!
This scale would also be great for people who are watching their weight. It comes with a great little guidebook that tell you the number of calories/gram for many items, and there is even a list to write your own items in if you need to. Keeping track of calories is simple with it! It runs on two AAA batteries, which is great when it comes to replacing them. No searching for weird batteries!
