Bangkok Garden – Pensacola Spotlight

Not too long ago, I noticed that a lot of my friends were checking in at a place I had never heard of – Bangkok Garden.  Being a lover of Thai food, I knew I had to check them out, especially since all of my friends seemed to be going there and loving it!

Judging from the location, I knew it wouldn’t be much from the outside.  I did a little research and discovered that it was a small mom and pop place that had been located out near the military base before Ivan.  They just recently reopened after Ivan destroyed their business.

I decided to go the first time by myself.  My husband is really picky, so I knew I needed to check it (and the menu) out ahead of time.  I went in for lunch one day and discovered that their lunch specials are only $5.95!  Although they didn’t have any vegetarian options listed, she quickly told me that they could make any of the lunch options with tofu instead of meat.  All lunches come with Tom Yum Kai soup and a Spring Roll (vegetarian).  I didn’t eat the soup, since it had chicken in it, but later when my husband came with me he ate both his and mine, so I’m sure it was good!  I really enjoyed the Spring Roll – it was crunchy and full of veggie goodness.  I would prefer a different sauce with it, though.  To me, the one they have is lacking flavor.  I think a sweet chili sauce would be great!

red curry

I had the red curry – it was really good, although I would have liked to see more vegetables in it.  It isn’t very spicy, but they had a nice selection of peppers so you could add as much heat as you wanted to it.  The flavors are wonderful though!  I wish I had taken a picture of it when it came out, since it was lovely, but unfortunately I forgot my camera.  This picture is of the leftovers!  The rice and curry are served separately, so you can add as much or as little as you want.

Bangkok Garden Menu, Bangkok Garden Lunch Specials

As you can see, they have a pretty large selection of lunch options to choose from.  They have my husband’s favorite – beef and broccoli, so I knew I could go back and take my husband!  He loved their beef and broccoli.  He said the sauce was great, and the portion of beef to vegetables was good too.  I tried the pad thai, and while I didn’t like it as much as I liked the red curry, it was good too.  I thought the peanut flavor you find in pad thai was pretty light.

Bangkok Garden Menu

Another great thing about this place is that you can bring your own beer if you want!  This is a great option if you’re going to dinner.  Most of the dinner options are $7.95, with a few options that are more expensive.  The service was excellent both times I’ve gone, although I’m still not sure if you’re supposed to wait for them to bring you the check – we just went to the cash register to pay both times.

Bangkok Garden will be a great option for us since it has both the Chinese food my husband likes and the Thai food I like, all at reasonable prices.  We’ll definitely be returning!

If you want to look at the menu and can’t read it here, try checking it out here.

thanks for the review. the menu makes them look the same as all the other thai/oriental joints.
At least Siam Asian on Creigton is a little different and consistently great.
We tried Two Sticks last week, I was surprised their prices were resonable, and they had some different things on the menu, but even a “spicy” dish I ordered was lacking HOT.
The best Thai place Pensacoal ever had is long gone but it was at Davis and Amber. in the 80′s and the food was beyond anything I’ve ever seen since in “oriental” rests.

    • Yes, the menu is pretty standard, but it’s a lot less expensive than Siam Thai, who is pretty pricy compared to most. The couple who runs it is really nice as well, which is always a plus in my book. I don’t know of any other Thai/Oriental joints in Pensacola!
My favorite Thai place was a small place on 9-Mile and 29 – they closed when they moved to another country. Amazing food, once I finally got the cook to realize I liked certain dishes with tofu (she was convinced they wouldn’t be good).

Whats up this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use
WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

  4. Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite reason
seemed to be on the web the easiest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people think about worries that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

You’ll be able to see who your spouse has been calling, or who’s been calling them, read their messages, and a whole lot
more. The protective film is to be removed from the back of the apparatus, and the adhesive disk is to be placed
on the clean surface by pressing it firmly into circular motion around the
disk. The first one to go for their phone to check messages,
make a call or even to check the weather, ends up paying for the entire dinner bill.
