My husband LOVES playing video games. We currently have a PS3 and a Wii, and he has another PS3 to use when he’s on the road. Excessive? I think so, but my husband would disagree.
Up until now, we haven’t really had many games suitable for the whole family, but now that Little Miss is four we decided that we should get some games that she would enjoy as well. Here are some games that are perfect for enjoying with the entire family!
This game is definitely fun for the entire family! Join CHROME (Command Headquarters for Recon Operations and Motorized Espionage) and train to perform maneuvers only Cars characters can do, such as backwards driving, air tricks, sidestepping to avoid obstacles, two wheel driving and more. Choose your favorite Cars character and enjoy racing against your friends or completing missions.
I like it because Little Miss can race around the track and it doesn’t time out for her or make her die completely, so she doesn’t get frustrated. My husband loves doing the CHROME training and learning all of the tricks, then doing the missions. We even got to try out the 3D capabilities after Little Miss went to bed, and they were very cool! This is a wonderful game that people with lots of different skill levels can enjoy!
Another great game for the whole family! In this game you suit up as your favorite Disney character and go on adventures in different worlds to rescue characters, collect gold, and solve puzzles. It’s fairly simple to just rescue the character and move to the next level, but there are a lot of extras on each level that make the game more challenging. You can team up with up to four players, so the whole family can participate!
Little Miss enjoyed this game as well. We try to find things for her to do that she’ll find fun while we’re playing, like collecting gold coins. She also seems to enjoy just randomly running around! The basic controls are fairly simple, so I think she’ll catch on and actually be able to play before too long. They also have “mini-games” within the game. These concentrate on doing just one thing (collecting gold, killing bad guys), so this was a little easier for her.
I really enjoyed this game too. I don’t play a lot of video games, and a lot of them frustrate me, but this one was fun! As you collect gold, you get to unlock new characters and levels, which is fun. I think my husband probably thought this one was a little easy for him, but he still really enjoyed it!
We aren’t the target audience for this game, but I think if your child likes the Power Rangers they will really enjoy it. Power Rangers Samurai is an Action-Adventure game for Nintendo Wii in which the popular Power Ranger franchise makes a return. Using your skills as one of several Power Rangers and an impressive array of martial arts skills and weapons defeat an slew of enemies that have bled over into your world from the Netherworld. Features include: easy-to-use Wii Remote specific controls, team-based battles as Ranger and the ability to merge with other Power Rangers to form the giant Samurai Megazord and go into battle.
In this game the players are Power Rangers and use their powers to defeat villains. There is a story line that goes through the game, so as you go through each level you unlock more of the story. I can totally see a child dressing up like a power ranger and having a lot of fun with this game! The only downside I can see is that only two people can play at once.
BUY IT: You can buy these games at Amazon (click the pictures above), or at most brick and mortar stores.
WIN IT: One lucky US reader can win Power Rangers Samurai for Nintendo DS! I’m mailing this one out, so hopefully it will get there in time for Christmas!
