This weekend was Father’s Day, and my husband decided to celebrate by doing all of Little Miss’ favorite things. What a fun weekend we had! We kept it simple – went on a boat ride and went to the beach, and also spent plenty of time just hanging out at the house with each other.
It made me realize how quickly she is growing up, and how we so often miss the chance to thoroughly enjoy our children. I know all too often I get caught up in schedules I’m trying to meet, a bad day at work, or simply wanting to “zone out”, that I don’t fully rejoice in the wonder that is seeing the World through a child’s eyes.
I love this child’s meditation I found the other day. It’s so simple, but a wonderful reminder that going back to basics and seeing through the eyes of a child. Whether it’s blowing bubbles, reading your child’s favorite book with them, or skipping down the street, I challenge you to let go of all your worries and live like a child this week!
If you have children, spend some extra time seeing the world through their eyes and appreciating the wonderful people they are. If you don’t have children, spend some time getting back to your childhood roots and be a little silly and carefree. You’ll feel much better because of it!
