Happy Independence Day! Hope all of you US readers are enjoying a day off. We’re about to head to a friend’s house for water fun! Doubt we’ll get to see the fireworks – too late for us!
It’s hot here, so I thought I’d post a great frozen yogurt recipe for all of you who have ice-cream machines. We used ours for the first time this week, and I was so impressed! I remember the days of cranking the ice cream machine for hours to get ice-cream – this is so much easier!
This recipe is incredibly simple – I love the tangy taste that the yogurt has! Feel free to go crazy with your toppings and add-ins. We added chocolate syrup to ours before we put it into the machine.
Homemade Fro-Yo
-
32 ounces plain nonfat yogurt
-
3/4-1 C sugar, depending on how sweet you like it
- Whisk together the yogurt and sugar until the sugar dissolves. We used 3/4 C, since we were also adding chocolate syrup. Pour into the ice-cream maker. Don’t forget to leave the base in the freezer at least overnight! The longer the better! Churn for thirty minutes and then store the leftovers (if you have any) in an airtight container in the freezer.
- Add fruit, sprinkles, syrup – it’s all up to you!

As much as I like yogurt, I have never made fro-yo! Truthfully I dont care for ice cream but hubby does…..and he shouldnt have it. I might give this a try I was never sure how much sugar to add. Thanks for posting this!
Wish I knew how to pin better I can mangae to pin without the button so bookmarked!
I had to check out the post, not knowing what “fro-yo” was. Must be some slang from your state?
Thanks for the recipe. I did not know it is so easy to make frozen yogurt at home. And thanks for the inspiration to get the ice cream maker out of its box.
Can you use nonfat Greek yogurt ?
Do you put the add-ins into the mix while it’s churning or after?
