La Brisa is one of the newest restaurants to open in Gulf Breeze. Located at the Quality Inn Hotel, it’s a location that has been struggling to find a great match for several years now. The location is amazing with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water and amazing sunset views.
On a recent child-free night, my husband and I decided to check out La Brisa. Unfortunately, we couldn’t enjoy the view because it was dark already, but I guess that is what happens on these short winter days!
We were seated quickly, and the waiter quickly came over to tell us the specials for the night and get our drink orders. They weren’t very busy, which was good for us since we had several questions about the menu. I ended up getting brown sugar glazed salmon served over fontina and mushroom risotto with a side of green beans and squash. The green beans were crisp and fresh – just how I like them. I loved the creaminess of the risotto and the fontina and mushrooms added a wonderful earthy flavor that contrasted well with the sweetness of the salmon.
My husband had the Angus Ribeye, which was served with roasted potatoes and asparagus. He really enjoyed his steak and said it was cooked perfectly. I didn’t get to try his veggies since they were covered with steak juice, but they looked delicious and he ate all of them! He’s very picky when it comes to vegetables, so I imagine they were great. The asparagus was crispy and not over-cooked, and the potatoes were nicely browned. Both meals came with a simple spring salad.
My only complaint is that I wished they had a selection of inexpensive items on their dinner menu, such as a few sandwiches, so you wouldn’t have to spend around $20 a plate if you didn’t want to.
We will definitely be heading back to La Brisa once the days are longer and the weather is nicer – it would be a great place to dine and watch the sunset! We were impressed with the food and the service!
