As a Mom who works full time and has a spouse who’s away from home a lot of the time, I’m always on the lookout for food that is easy to prepare and tastes good too. Additionally, I’d prefer that they aren’t full of salt or other unhealthy ingredients! Unfortunately, many times convenience means adding some unsavory ingredients to your meal. So of course when I was told that Frontier Soups offered convenient soups and that all Frontier Soups Homemade in Minutes mixes include all-natural ingredients with no added salt, preservatives, or MSG I was intrigued!
I received this product for free from the sponsor of the Moms MeetSM program, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms MeetsSM blogger, I agreed to use this product and post my opinion on my blog. My opinions do not necessarily reflect the opinions of May Media Group LLC or the manufacturer of the product.
So did Frontier Soups pass the test of tasting good while being easy to prepare?? With flying colors! Not only did I try several of the soups, but I sent the chicken noodle soup on the road with my husband. I was worried, because he is really picky and I just knew he wouldn’t like it. For one thing, there were peas in it, and for another it was gluten free! Well, not only did he like it, but he said it was one of the best chicken noodle soups he had ever had!
My favorite (so far) is the South of the Border Tortilla Soup Mix. I used veggie broth instead of chicken broth, and added some veggie crumbles instead of the chicken. It was so delicious! I also liked it paired with some guacamole. The best thing was that it came together with very little effort, and everything I added I already had around the house. I like that you add salsa as an ingredient – I think that really lets you put your own spin on it since there are so many salsa varieties available! All of their soups come together in 30-45 minutes, and very little of that is active time – mostly it’s sit on the stove and stir it occasionally!
Since none of the mixes have to be refrigerated and a lot of the add ins are very adaptable, I think it would be pretty easy to use these for camping too. Or, if you want to fancy things up a bit they have variation recipes on their website.
If you follow a gluten-free diet, you’ll be pleased to know that all corn and rice ingredients in every mix are certified non-GMO. Frontier Soups produces 28 gluten free soup mixes certified gluten free by the Celiac Sprue Association (CSA). That organization represents critical review of all manufacturing practices and procedures to provide risk-free choices for our gluten-free customers. Just search for soups by type on their website to find out which ones they are!
